Marissa Mayer Sells Yahoo: CEO Makes $4.8 Million Merger With Verizon

Marissa Mayer, 41, is the mother of three adorable children, but she has another bouncing baby: Yahoo, the company she revamped as CEO in a historic appointment in 2012. Marissa announced on July 25 that Verizon would be acquiring Yahoo’s operating business, effectively merging Yahoo with the phone giant. Though after selling the company for $4.8 billion, it seems as if Marissa would split, she assured Yahoo employees in an email announcing the sale that she would be staying on board:

“The teams here (at Yahoo) have not only built incredible products and technologies, but have built Yahoo into one of the most iconic, and universally well−liked companies in the world,” Marissa wrote in her email, subsequently posted to tumblr. “One that continues to impact the lives of more than a billion people. I’m incredibly proud of everything that we’ve achieved, and I’m incredibly proud of our team. For me personally, I’m planning to stay. I love Yahoo, and I believe in all of you. It’s important to me to see Yahoo into its next chapter.”

However, sources told Recode.net that it is too good to be true. Marissa is too powerful to want to work under Tim Αrmstrong, the CEO of Verizon, and her co−worker from their days as execs at Google. On to bigger and better things?

HollywoodLifers, are you glad that Marissa is staying on at Yahoo? Tell us in the comments!
