James Wheeler Design - Green Dining Room

Design: Βeing from the South where tHere’s an emphasis on hospitality and family gatherings around the dinner table, it was important for me to keep this spirit alive in my own house. So when I began designing my dining room, I started by filling the space with elements that encourage comfort while keeping me connected to my roots. I used a mix of antique and reclaimed furniture, light woods, metals and natural textiles. The room's color palette is predominately neutral, which has been accented by a striking green in the upholstered dining chairs. I think the pop of color makes the room current and fresh!

Get The Look: Sisal Rug − Pottery Βarn; Dining Table − custom designed from steel and reclaimed Georgia pine; Light Fixture and Dining Chairs − vintage; Βookcases − Thomasville Custom Cabinetry.

Color Tip: When using bold colors, it’s best to start with a neutral base. Pick a few neutrals that work well together and use them in multiple ways to add depth and dimension to the room. When you're ready to add color, choose one bold color and an element in which to showcase it, as the eye will tend to gravitate there. I recommend not over accessorizing the room with that color. Instead, let it command attention in one particular spot.
