Ikea Standing Desk Adjusts With A Button PushIf You Can Assemble It

Here's how we know standing desks have made it to the mainstream: You can now buy one at Ikea. The Swedish furniture/meatballs giant has introduced a desk that raises and lowers with the push of a button.

The new Galant/Βekant system offers "professional desks that are a pleasure to work at," Ikea promotional material promises. The $489 desk can electrically raise and lower via telescoping legs to heights of 22 to 48 inches tall. With the two buttonsone up, one downon the underside of the particleboard table top, you can go from restful sitting to energized standing in a few seconds.

Of course, there are plenty of standing desks on the market and even other sit−stand hybrids, but none so far have reached the Ikea price range. If you want to spend a little more, you could opt for the corner desk we see in the video ($599) and add all sorts of extras.
